Charles Dickens, American Notes, 1842

"...the Military School of America ... could not stand on more appropriate ground, and any ground more beautiful can hardly be."

 

Chronicled by Dickens during his first trip to America at the encouragement of Washington Irving. At the end of the trip with his wife Catherine, he lodged  two nights at the

United States Military Academy - the genesis of Eben Kruge.
